You Can Open A Tesla's Frunk With A Screwdriver, But There's A Good Reason Why
The latest Salomondrin video - after 10 minutes of waffle, that is - highlights what looks like a bit of a security issue with the Tesla Model X. All you need to do is remove the towing eye hatch with a screwdriver, pull on a couple of straps, and hey presto, you have an open frunk.
It’s not quite the “insane security flaw” it’s made out to be, though. It’s there for the emergency services, and Tesla details the process in its first responder’s guide. Once first responders have opened the frunk, they can then access the ‘cut loop’, which shuts off the car’s high voltage system. A similar feature exists on the Model S, accessed through the front wheel well.
So it’s there for a good reason, but as a consequence you probably don’t want to leave your laptop or something in the frunk. Electrek and a few other sites are claiming that Tesla does make owners aware of the frunk access system and warns against storing any valuables up front. We’ve asked Tesla UK if this is the case, and are currently awaiting reply.

He said that the only problem there is, is that Tesla should be more open to the customers about this. That is tesla would say “there is a safety feature on the car that makes it whete you can open the front trunk to cut off the high voltage system. So do not leave valuable items in ghe front trunk as it is not secure.” It would be 100% fine.
Just going to say, if I buy a car for that much money I better be able to store some valuables in it without having to worry about them being taken from my frunk.
And insurance companies will say that goods stolen out of a Tesla cannot be claimed.

Right but if i was to do a road trip from my home in L.A. to San Fran with some friends, it would be easier if bags we wanted easily accessable could be kept in the frunk instead of having to go about finding the bags in the truck. If I had an SUV I would be taking it on long trips like I do with our families Buick. It is a bad design on Teslas part.
how is walking 4 feet to the frunk ANY easier than walking 4 feet to the trunk?? plus the trunk more spread out so all of your bags don’t have to be stacked on top of each other

If your truck is full of other bags digging through that to get a daypack is a pain.
Plus what is the point of having an area to store stuff if it is not safe?
