A Dealership Is Apparently Selling 1200bhp Mustangs For $45k, But It's Not That Simple

When we learned that an Ohio Ford dealership is offering 1200bhp Ford Mustangs for $44,449, we weren’t at all surprised to find out the particular establishment.

It is of course Lebanon Ford, a dealer which hit the headlines last year for selling 717bhp Mustang GTs for the low, low price of $39,995. So how - you might ask - can they offer a brand new ‘Stang with 500bhp more than that, for just a $5000 increase? Well, they can’t - not quite.

While it’s impressive Lebanon can sell you a brand new Mustang with a fully fitted LFP Hellion twin-turbo kit, upgraded injectors and a cat-back exhaust for that price, the magic 1200 figure is only possible “with supporting mods”.

Even the ‘Package 2’ version of the kit - which adds upgraded halfshafts and even fancier injectors among other things - isn’t going to be enough for a hypercar baiting power figure. Still, it’ll provide one hell of a starting point for quarter-mile glory, and for not much money, even if you’ll need to spend a fair bit more to get it over 1000bhp.

So, we want to ask you: this plus some extra mods, or that incoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon?

First off 1200HP would add so much heat it would melt the internals. Second will the transmission be able to support that much of a torque increase? What is the transmission rated to handle. Third even at 775HP they should have to upgrade the brake kit. No way the stock brakes will be able to handle that power. You will kill yourself. Lastly even 775hp is a lot for a teenager or even someone in their early 20’s with no real track driving experience. To make 1200HP affordable to young kids you mind as well add a loaded gun. No way a person coming out of a car with less than 400HP should take a jump to 1200HP in a RWD car. Its completely absurd.

All 5.0 Coyotes already have forged rods and crank. So those are the main points of failure. So Hellion themselves make over 900. So no you don’t need internals if you stay around 800-900 at the wheels which is over 1000. New pads is all you need for brakes.
