Just before Christmas, Toyota announced it was cooking up something special for 2017: a spicy version of the Yaris. And now we know a little more.

We really mean a little. But of the smattering of details revealed this week, one piece of info is particularly significant: Toyota is saying its new hot hatch will kick out 210bhp. 210bhp in a little Yaris - which according to Toyota will be infused with know-how from its WRC effort - should make for a potent car. We won’t have to wait long to see it either, with the go-faster Yaris receiving its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

At the same time, the whole Yaris range will be updated, with new styling, a nicer interior and a “raft of technical modifications” to give better ride and handling.
