An inexperienced driver and a supercar usually isn’t a good mix. It’s something we see time and time again through various wrecks and embarrassing incidents, but few are quite as embarrassing as this one.

It involved a Ferrari 458 Italia and a Lamborghini Huracan, which crashed into each other in Vancouver’s Massey Tunnel late last week. The two young male drivers are described as “in their 20s”, and both had novice driver stickers on their cars - although apparently only one is officially classed as a novice driver.

A local news report from CTV claims “speed does not appear to be a factor,” so how the hell the pair managed to damage the cars to such an extent, we’re not sure. Both are expected to be written off.

People have said it before but I’ll say it again. You should need to either be a certain age to buy a car like these or pass some kind of “fast car test” before being allowed to own one. Though I guess that opens up the argument that you can make a fairly ordinary car go like hell with the right amount of mods!

Why do you mark them as “douchebags” straight away?
Ok, they are young and they crashed the cars. Yes, it is likely that it is because they were driving irresponsibly.
But there is no concrete evidence so far; no footage, no confirmations from police or witnesses. In fact, they said “speed wasn’t a factor” (ok, we don’t know if it’s true or not).
There is a chance that that was an accident, due to road conditions or some normal driver’s mistake, which can happen regardless of age.
We shouldn’t be stapling every young driver who got into an accident in an expensive car as “douchebag”

Exactly my thoughts. At least until we find out what actually happened.

Because they’re a couple of rich kids that don’t deserve these cars. Their rich daddy bought them these and the first thing they do is try to race them and wreck them. They give a bad image on us true petrolheads that obey the law and know how to drive and race a car. That’s why they’re douchebags. And until they learn the skill to drive these dream cars and earn some discipline, they will remain douchebags.

Someone probably changed lanes in front of the other. It’s a common problem in that tunnel even though it is an illegal move to do so (and yes I live by where this happened) road conditions in the tunnel would’ve been fine as they usually are.

Tricia Takanowa: I’m standing here at the scene of a head-on crash between a red Lamborghini and a blue Ferrari. More details coming soon.
