Brace Yourself: The £50,000 Non-CSL BMW E46 M3 Has Happened

With low-mileage M3 prices going through the roof lately we thought we'd have a look how non-CSL E46 M3s were getting on, and after this we almost wish we hadn't bothered...
Brace Yourself: The £50,000 Non-CSL BMW E46 M3 Has Happened

As if you needed further proof that BMW M3 prices are getting a bit silly, here’s an E46 we found earlier – and it’s not even a CSL.

Inspired and a bit terrified by our discovery of a £30,000 E36 M-car, we had a look around to see what the state of play is for the better-favoured E46. And the news is apparently not good.

Hexagon, in the London Borough of South Kensington, is known for selling damn fine examples of good cars and charging just a little bit over the absolute market maximum for them. And that’s where you’ll find this £50,000 E46 M3.

The Alpine White coupé in question has covered just 2300 miles since being registered in 2005. It’s fitted with the SMG gearbox and has factory options including cruise control, climate control, electric sunroof, double-spoke 19-inch wheels, BMW Professional sat-nav, a 6-CD changer (y’know, for all the CDs you still have) and a Harmon Kardon stereo. It’s pretty much fully kitted-out.

The leather is unmarked and the wheels all look like new. It also has a tracker fitted, which is good news if you’ve shelled out this price for it. Fifty thousand of your British pounds buys this 338bhp beauty with enough change left over for a small fish and chips.

Fifty grand! Remember, this is not a CSL, and you can get this tidy CSL for less. While you can pick up leggy E46s for a lot less, the price for a good one is getting a bit out of hand. Is it okay to cry?

If I was BMW CEO, I’d start secretly producing E46 M3s, doing 400-500 miles in each car (to make it more realistic), and selling them for ridiculous money (pretending they were made during normal production period)

Oh well, and when you think some are doing this for a living (modified mileage and so on) …

I posted this in the comments of the original E36 post, no one batted an eye. ‘Good find’

I think its like “clubsport lightweight” or something. Anyways, its a more focused version of the E46 M3, with some different design features, some carbon parts, less weight and faster times. But its also way more expensive and rare (like M4 and M4 GTS)
