Take A Sneaky Look Under The Skin Of The Mazda MX-5 RF's Fancy Folding Roof

We've all seen those cool videos of the new hard top Miata's clever roof in operation, but this animated version shows us what's happening behind the scenes

As a ‘retractable fastback’, the Mazda MX-5 RF is very much lie a mini version of the Porsche 911 Targa. The clever roof you see here can open and close in around 12 seconds at speeds of up to 6mph, and - impressively - doesn’t rob the RF of any boot space compared to the standard car.

Mazda revealed earlier this month that the MX-5 RF will start at £22,195 in the UK. Would you have one over the soft-top?

It would be better if it would be used by hand like the corvette

Getting tortured by the soft top at work ever since my Volvo dealer moved sites to join with Mazda and Honda at one location. Not going to get much work done once these come out 😄

A convertible should be soft top, idiosyncrasies, noise and all.

The RF is about as heavy as the soft top version of the NC.
