Ladies and gentlemen: lock up your VW Golf Rs and Renaultsport Meganes, because the new Honda Civic Type R is here. And damn, does it look angry.

It’s been revealed ahead of its the Paris Motor Show debut in prototype form, and while previous reports had indicated that the 10th generation Civic-based Type R would have its looks toned down compared to the crazed ninth-gen car, but if this prototype is anything to go by, that isn’t going to happen.

We have a front splitter, a pair of side skirts and a rear diffuser made from carbonfibre, a huge bonnet vent, and of course, a spoiler of Brobdingnagian proportions sitting on the boot. To up the visual aggression further, the show car is finished in a “highly reflective, finely-grained brushed aluminium-effect.”

And that’s about all we know for now. Under the bonnet we’re expecting the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder as seen in the current Type R, albeit with a little more power on tap. A figure closer to the 345bhp enjoyed by the Focus RS, we’re thinking.

A production version will be revealed next year, and yes, you will be able to buy it in North America for the first time.

Just like the sti, mustang, or any other new car, the design looks like it put on weight, bigger and wider, for no reason, oh wait, it’s so Americans will like it better, well screw that sh** in my opinion it doesn’t look too good so I say “not cool” wall and away with its head

It looks better than the last two models, but that’s hardly an achievement.

Also Burnout called, it wants its exaggerated million mile an hour design back.
