This Newly Restored Ferrari F40 Burned To The Ground On Its First Drive

Can we all just observe a moment of silence in tribute of this Ferrari F40, which burned to the ground shortly after its maiden drive following a full restoration

Something truly terrible has happened. A recently restored Ferrari F40 – arguably the world’s most famous supercar – burned to the ground on its maiden appearance back on the road.

A post by a user in the Ferrari Chat forum showed several images of an F40 in the UK completely burned to a crisp, with pretty much the entire car being destroyed.

There isn’t much information about what happened but by the look of the damage, the fire could have started from the engine bay and spread to the rest of the car.

According to the poster, Paul5000, the car had just been completely restored and was on its first drive when it caught fire.

We don’t know if anyone was injured or how the incident started. But what we do know is the car has burned to the ground and will never be used again.

Later in the post thread, Paul5000 said if the car is classed as a “category B” salvage vehicle, it will have to be stripped and the chassis crushed .

Any parts that were not damaged can be taken off the car and removed, but it seems unlikely that much will be useable from this F40.

We’ll see what happens but it doesn’t look good for the crispy remains of this F40, which hits us right in the feels.

The main frame/cage thing looks in pretty good shape, why not make a Ferrari version of the vettekart?

Looks like they did an amazing job on the restoration. I’d be looking at the shop that did the work and see if their wiring guy can count past potato.
