The Abarth 124 R-GT Sounds Like It Needs Anger Management

Footage of Abarth's new rear-wheel drive rally machine undergoing testing has emerged, and it's all about angry noises and sliding

Want the most potent version of the Fiat 124 Spider possible? You’ll probably have the Abarth 124 in mind, but there is a pretty significant step up from that: the 124 R-GT.

Revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show alongside the regular Abarth 124, the €150,000 car has - hence the name - been built to FIA R-GT regulations. It puts out 296bhp from a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-pot, is still very much rear-wheel drive, and features radically overhauled suspension.

It’s seen testing in the footage above in preparation for the 2017 season. Sounds pretty angry, no?

You could buy a 124 abarth, spend £10,000 or £20,000 on it and probably have something even better, nice car but what a rip off from fiat kind of annoyed me this

To bring it up to FIA Rally Spec? Not on your bloody life.

To make it clear this is a RACECAR not a tarred up street machine
