How Does The Fiat 124 Spider Compare To The Mazda MX-5?

Despite being essentially the same car as the MX-5 underneath, the 124 Spider has a different engine and chassis setup. Motor Trend's Jason Cammisa thought he'd try and find out which he prefers, but that's not an easy question to answer...

I guess you could call it a… FIATA!

Mixing FIAT and 124 in one sentence makes me think about this.Even if it has ‘Spider’ at the end, this thing pops into my mind.

I’ll be hated for this, but I really don’t like how the new mx-5 looks. The back lights are out of place and the front ones are too narrow and just ugly to my eye. The whole car looks like its a toy made of plastic and foil. I don’t like it.
But thankfully, guys from Fiat came and saved the car. They fixed the looks so that the car looks how it supposed to look, with a more balanced design, sharper lines and beautiful headlights (not those narrow things imitating headlights), and rear lights which somehow remind me of older cars. It looks beautiful, as almost any other Italian car.
Thank you Fiat, you saved the MX-5. At least, for me.

I’d take the fiat with a muffler delete. The turbo would sound great! :)

I’m totally confused…
It’s called the 124, but it doesn’t have a 1.2-liter engine?
If it really has a 1.4-liter engine, shoudn’t it be called the 144?
