The New Tesla Model S P100D Is As Fast As A LaFerrari To 60mph
As if the P90D wasn't accelerative enough, Tesla's latest electric super saloon will blow internal combustion into next year
Tesla has confronted the supercar world with its latest development of the Model S: the P100D. A 10kWh hike over the P90D will see it accelerate from 0-60mph in a brain-scrambling 2.5 seconds, bringing the electric car on-par with the LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder in terms of outright acceleration.
The 100kWh, four-wheel drive saloon will also achieve a range of 315 miles, the longest range of any production electric vehicle.
The P100D is estimated to be rather expensive (probably around the £100,000 mark), but Musk has justified the price tag by saying that the money made from the new flagship saloon will go into the production of the Model 3, the entry-level electric car that should retail for just $35,000.

a university team has already broken that with an electric formula student car built by students i believe they did 0/62mph in 1.6 seconds

While I think the model S is cool and all but £100k is too much. It defeats the purpose of electric vehicles being affordable for the masses.
That’s not the purpose. It’s to use cleaner energy and (probably) produce more power within the next 10 years. The “affordable” Tesla fits that niche, but electric cars are not designed to be cheap.
But you want more than a any Ferrari? More than a 488?
This car don’t have soul , just a fast family car , go to point A to B fast but boring… That’s is the last era for soul cars and a electric car it’s the last thing a want! The future is fast but boring , and dark!

If you think electric cars are soulless and boring, I’m sure I’ll see you at the antique auto show. Think of how long it took petrol engines to get to a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds. How long til 800 hp in a street car. Electric engines have done that in about half the time with 1/10 of the effort people put into engines. And good luck finding gas in the next 20 years.
