Here's The New Land Rover Discovery Lapping The Nurburgring For Some Reason

Nordschleife testing is so prolific these days, that it seems even the likes of the fifth-generation are sent around the Green Hell for evaluation

What’s particularly surprising about this video is that the incoming new Discovery looks fairly comfortable on the Nordschleife. Sure, the tyres are clearly experiencing a sadistic form of torture judging by the prolific squealing, but the fifth-gen Disco certainly isn’t flopping around like you might expect.

It’s underpinned by a new, Range Rover-derived monocoque chassis, replacing the ancient ladder setup used by all Discoveries before it. This will cut the weight considerably in comparison to the bulky Discovery 4. Looks-wise, judging by spy shots we’ve seen of the car wearing much lighter camouflage, we can expect something which looks like an enlarged Discovery Sport.

According to the news I saw, there will be one called Discovery SVX instead of SVR (top-end model)

So I think this would be the normal Disco but tamed like RR SVR…that’s odd..

Maybe it;s just because it’s a nice quiet road where they can test without breaking the law how a certain percentage of us are going to drive!

It is often that they go there to test cars - not only performance cars. Otherwise how the hell are they supposed to test suspension, steering and the rest of the car at high speeds/a series of emergency braking/sharp corners? I mean of course its not supposed to break nurburgring records, but they want to make sure that their car works how it should even if the driver goes max-out on autobahn or just above legal speed limits on some roads.

Probably the test drivers and engineers wanted to hunt Pokemon at the Ring, like what Boosted Boris did!

Why? Because why not, it’s always funny do a lap on the Nurburgring, no matter what car is
