Rejoice: The Rumoured LaFerrari Spider Has Been Confirmed By Maranello’s Boss

The prospect of a LaFerrari Spider shouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s been rumoured since 2014 after all, and it looked even more of a certainty when the car allegedly made a private debut earlier this year.

In the latest bit of news about the car, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne dropped in a mention for the incoming LaFerrari Spider when talking about the LaFerrarina (a rumoured but unconfirmed semi-skimmed LaFerrari) plus the difficulty of positioning a potential V6-powered Dino model with Automobile Mag:

“Let me ask you: Where should that Dino be positioned? How much should it cost? How would it relate to the next 488? What is the right balance between too many and not enough units? We haven’t found answers to these questions yet. And by the way, the only future product connected to LaFerrari is the Spider. Which is no secret since potential customers have already been approached.”

Mechanically it’s unlikely to change, so expect a 950bhp hybrid V12 powertrain, which should sound jolly lovely with less roof getting in the way…

What’s the big deal? Only small amount of people will ever see this car, and even fewer will drive it, and then only half of them will own one. If I had a choice between a 1978 Porsche 911 and the LaFerrari, I would choose the Porsche. Why? Because if I had the LaFerrari, I couldn’t daily it, I wouldn’t be able to take it to a track that often, and I wouldn’t be able to truly take it to the limit. To me, it’s just another car I will never drive.

If you just looked at the Instagrams of the insanely rich you would have known this for sure. A bunch received keys for the cars a few months ago.
