Watch This Porsche 919 Hybrid Narrowly Avoid Flipping Over At Silverstone

The No.1 Porsche of Brendon Hartley was leading the 6 Hours of Silverstone when contact with a GT car almost pitched it into a roll and caused the 919 Hybrid to retire from the race

The incident took place just two hours into the race, as the 919 Hybrid LMP1 prototype and GTE-Am Porsche 911 RSR entered Silverstone’s The Loop section.

The FIA World Endurance Championship season opener was eventually won by the No. 7 Audi R18 of Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer. The RGR Sport by Morand machine of Ricardo Gonzalez, Filipe Albuquerque and Bruno Senna claimed LMP2 victory.

Meanwhile in GTE-Pro, the No. 71 AF Corse Ferrari of Davide Rigon and Sam Bird dominated and the team’s No.83 Ferrari of Francois Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard and Rui Aguas also triumphed in GTE-Am.

Update
After the race it was revealed that the race-winning No.7 car was found to be over the permitted skid plank wear tolerances allowed. It was excluded and the victory was handed to the No.2 Porsche of Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb. Audi has appealed the decision.
