Ford Sold More Mustangs Than Porsche Sold 911s In Germany Last Month

It turns out German car buyers dig the new Ford Mustang. Really dig it, in fact. According to Autoblog, last month Ford shifted 780 of the things in the country, beating both the Porsche 911 (752 units) and the Audi TT (708 units) on home turf.

It’s not like the Mustang is a cheaper car than the TT in Germany either - as Autoblog points out, the starting price for the Ecoboost Mustang is actually higher than the cheapest TT. And as a bonus, the muscle car also beat the Boxster and Cayman last month, with Porsche selling a combined 642 units.

So, given the choice, what would you have: an Audi TT, a Porsche Cayman/Boxster, or a Ford Mustang?

Ford Mustang GT ! ^^ I’ve always wanted a V8 and I rather have the (not so) thirsty V8 instead of turbocharged four-pots (which aren’t bad engines).

Opel Astra outsold both.
Conclusion:
Opel Astra is better than a Porsche 911 or a Mustang.
oh wait…

You actually make an excellent point, though. Some people will, no doubt, interpret this piece of news as proof of Mustang’s superiority over any Porsche.

Actually I think this is normal. Just look around for like 30 minutes and count the amount of Porsches. You see them everywhere! A Mustang is something you don’t see often in Western Europe and as far as I know: You buy a sportscar to get noticed. Porsches don’t get noticed anymore (or it has to be an RS model with fancy colours).

That’s the reason Mustangs get good sales numbers.

Are you guys really wondering why? The Porsche costs at least twice as a Mustang. And both are pretty cool. Plus you can get a compressor in the GT. Then it will have at least 650HP and 0-100-3.7. Still it will be twice as cheap.

Well in Germany i’m sure Porsche and Audi are cheaper than out of country and American cars are expensive (and vice versa here in ‘Murica) so people consider an import a Mustang and prefer something new and cool while a Porsche is a norm you see as meh in Germany.

It’ll still handle like a pig compared to a 911, it’s not in the same luxury class (and by far), it’ll cost more in taxes and fuel, it’s less reliable, it doesn’t have the same build quality, and it doesn’t have the same pedigree. On top of it, a 911 is more suitable for smaller European roads than a Mustang is. If you wanna force induct the Mustang, you’re looking at $10,000 and no more warranty. There’s a reason companies have a whole marketing and financial team behind them to decide what to price their cars. Granted a portion of that money goes towards the brand at Porsche, but it still isn’t the $50,000 difference between the cars. Why even compare the two head to head?
