This Is The New Subaru Impreza

Here it is, the next generation of Subaru Impreza. Details are still rather scarce (the full reveal will happen later today), but we do know it’ll be powered by a range of four-cylinder boxer engines, and a five-door hatchback version will be available in addition to the saloon you see here. It’ll be the hatchback that we receive in the UK (although it’s only “under consideration” at the moment), as the saloon won’t be coming to Europe.

This Is The New Subaru Impreza

It’s all underpinned by Subaru’s new Global Platform architecture, which will eventually be used on every car in the company’s range and makes this Impreza 70 per cent stiffer than the old one. The new car is - of course - all-wheel drive, and a hot WRX STI will join the ranks at some stage.

The amount of people in this thread that don’t understand that this is a basic Impreza and not the WRX….

I understand very well what this is and what the differences usually are between a regular impreza and a wrx. It’s a matter of personal opinion!

I love Subaru and all, but when it comes to exterior design four out of five times it seems they have no idea what they’re doing.

This is one of those times.

The Impreza isn’t what it was in the past. It’s just a normal sedan. I don’t think there’s going to be an Impreza WRX or STI since there’s a specific car for it now. The Impreza name is now associated to a boring small saloon.

I think they will do like they did with the Legacy. Make a new sports car (like the BRZ) and make the Impreza just your average Subaru

It’s got that unique Subaru “look” to it. It’s not the most stylish in it’s class but it sure as hell has better features

It’s a basic car that gives you only what you need and I love that
