A few weeks ago, Porsche confirmed what we’d long been expecting: the Boxster is switching from flat-sixes to an all-new range of turbocharged flat-fours. As we explained in our in-depth look at the new ‘718 Boxster’, the new engines are much more powerful, but how do they sound? This onboard video gives us a good idea.
You can also just about hear some engine noise in the new video below from Porsche, although it’s drowned out by some thumping music.
Our verdict on the new engine note? Certainly not a bad noise, but not a patch on the old sixes.

Meh not bad but not my style. The coolest thing was the kick plate in the video, I would love some time on that.
Why is there a smaller track next to one of the most epic tracks world wide?
7/18 would listen to it again.
I feel from inside the cockpit it sounds a lot like the six it replaces. That’s just my opinion.
