Vauxhall Has Hiked The Maloo Up To A Bonkers 529bhp

As if 425bhp in a pickup truck wasn't already wild enough, Vauxhall has gone and shoved an LSA V8 under the bonnet of the Maloo to give it 529bhp
Vauxhall Has Hiked The Maloo Up To A Bonkers 529bhp

The Maloo could never be accused of being anything other than a welcome dose of insanity in an ever-more sensible world. Packing an LS3 V8 and, with an empty bed, pretty much no weight over the rear wheels, its 425bhp was more than enough to earn it a reputation as a wild child. Well now we need a whole new dictionary of hyperbolisms, because the refreshed Maloo now gets a supercharged LSA V8 engine making 529bhp and 494lb ft of torque.

The unit is essentially the same as that found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 but with a slight retune. On forced-induction duty is an Eaton four-lobe supercharger, and a new high-flow exhaust system and a stand-alone water-to-air charge-air cooling system now also feature. To tame that extra kick, spring and damper rates have been stiffened to reduce body roll, and a unique rear suspension module has been fitted to improve rear stiffness. Launch control (in manual only) and a limited-slip differential now come as standard.

So if you like the prospect of launching from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds in a pickup truck that could carry half a tonne of stuff in the back, you’ll need to find £54,500 for this updated Vauxhall Maloo. We can’t think of a more hilarious way to destroy rear tyres.

Before the Chevy SS, the Pontiac G8 could have gotten a Ute conversion too, but no GM for some reason decided you guys can only have the sedan version

These are very over rated. The LSA motor makes good power on paper but when it was put up against the Ford Falcon GT-F with a 351kw supercharged 5.0l V8 on the Dyno the LSA lost. Holden have pumped up there power figures for some reason, where as ford have under quoted there power figures. The newly released FGX falcons with the same 335kw supercharged motor make nearly that at the rear wheels and has an over boost function which puts the engine output to 404kw. So anyone who thinks they are missing out don’t get your hopes up to much about it.

But the falcon doesn’t have the brakes, handling, interior or features anywhere near of the hsv. The hsv is the complete package. If just want a powerful motor then have your falcon.

You guys annoy me. You know the gts has larger drivetrain, nearly a 10” diff. Stronger box plus larger tires. All of which will take power from the engine. Keep bringing up the dyno sheet aswell, the gts is fostering a straight line and plenty fasteraroynd a track.
