Amidst turbocharger domination in the supercar world, 2019 will - believe it or not - bring with it an all-new naturally-aspirated supercar. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it won’t come from a major player like Ferrari or Porsche: nope, it’ll be the work of British company Ginetta.

The Leeds-based firm - known for producing racing cars for multiple categories - will be dipping its toe into the market with the machine you see in these two teasers, with the full reveal happening within the next few months.

Technical details are currently few and far between, but Ginetta is promising a carbon fibre tub-based car powered by a “race-derived” naturally-aspirated alloy V8 “designed and packaged in-house”. Like the 6.2-litre engine used in the G58 track car (below), we suspect it’ll be derived from an existing unit like a General Motors LS V8.

It’ll belt out over 600bhp, and send its power through a sequential gearbox. It’ll have a motorsport-like aero package, and…that’s all we know for now.

Speaking about the news, Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said:

“We’ve come a long way in 60 years but we still believe Ginetta has great untapped potential. In the 1960s our G10 was a giant killer on and off the track, regularly beating Jaguar E-Types. Sixty years on, we’re again applying knowledge and technology from our racing programmes to build an uncompromised yet utterly capable road-going supercar.”
