For those not familiar with it’s history, the RS2000 model was built by Ford as an alternative to the temperamental RS1600 using the 2.0 L Pinto (OHC) engine. Like the legendary Escort Mexico and RS1600, the RS2000 was produced at Ford’s specialist department created to cater for Ford’s new breed of low volume, high performance cars. The facility known as AVO (Advanced Vehicle Operations) was located in the spiritual home of the affordable fast Ford: Essex.

Back in the day before the affordable hot hatch this was one of the cars to have and there are not many left now. Mainly because Essex is also the home to the affordable fast Ford on it’s side in a ditch.
