IMPREZA RS 2.5 ENGINE SWAP!

Hey guys, i just bought my first car, a 2000 Impreza RS. I have absolutely adored these cars since i started with matchbox cars. But i want to do the swap, like very soon. I need advice on what motor to use for a 350hp-400hp build. Wanting the whole swap for less than $4000. Not necasarily the build to 350hp but just the motor and various other parts. Thanks!

Easier just to buy a stock turbo subie and build from there than to turbo the n/a if you want it to last more than one run since you’d basically need everything; engine, gearbox, driveshafts, diffs, suspension, brakes, ecu, loom, the whole lot basically. So it’d be miles cheaper and easier.

And even with a stock turbo subie the 4k budget would be tough for 350-400hp. You’d need a closed- or semi-closed deck block(ej207 or ej22t), larger turbo, larger injectors, maybe forged internals(the ej207 stock internals SHOULD suffice for your power figure), better clutch, bigger brakes(the gc8 brakes suck) bigger exhaust etc.

You might be able to do it for 4k, but you will also want better suspension and brakes to go with the swap, i would definitely not do it if ur budget is 4k, i recommend the route im taking rn which is a full sti swap from a salvage sti
