Mercedes Benz 1950’s Race Car Transporter

Now this is a car, or truck I guess, that most people have never heard of. Even as a lifelong gearhead I had never once seen this vehicle or anything like it really.

Made in the 1950’s by Mercedes Benz, the Race car Transporter is most definitely one of a kind. It was used back in its hay day to transport Mercedes Benz Race cars back and fourth between race events and the factory where the cars were worked on. It was considered to be the fastest Transporter in the word at the time with a top speed close to 110mph.

What made the Transporter so quick was the 3.0L straight six that also powered the famous 300 SL Gullwing that had roughly 220hp.

first time I heard about this truck was in Jay leno’s garage, who managed to get the exact replica of this magnificent truck in order to transport he’s beloved 300SL gullwing
