While all eyes and ears were on the next generation console announcements, Polyphony Digital dropped new information about the latest instalment in its perennial racing series. Gran Turismo 6 hopes to take the series back to the nigh-on perfect racing sim that its reputation demands, following the slightly disappointing GT5. GT6 will feature an exciting mix of cars, and now we've got our first glimpse at what's in store. One of the production vehicles slated so far is the Corvette Stingray, however there will also be FIA GT3 race cars licensed into the game. The most exciting of these is the revolutionary Nissan Deltawing. With its narrow front-end and skinny tyres, the Deltawing has challenged the way we think about race cars, so it'll be great to get behind the wheel. As well as cars, we've been given a glimpse of some of the tracks that we'll be tearing up later this year. The first of the three locations is Gemasolar. A massive solar power plant in Seville, Spain, this venue looks like it'll be an incredibly unique location for a race track as you race between massive solar panels. As well as the power plant, you'll also get to race at a fictional track called Matterhorn, situated in the Alps beneath the famous Matterhorn mountain. Finally the Willow Springs race circuit in California will feature in the game, with its 2.5 miles of intense high speed corners and undulating terrain. As well as all this content, Polyphony Digital also revealed some of its advances in racing simulation. The vehicle physics model has been completely overhauled, including the way cars react to load changes and driver inputs, the way tyres interact with the tarmac and how aerodynamics affect a car's behaviour. We're looking forward to seeing how this game holds up in the face of the next generation opposition, particularly with the likes of Forza Motorsport 5 on the horizon.
