I'm Sorry...What?: Isuzu VehiCROSS Ironman Edition
Welcome to a new segment for my blog called, “I’m Sorry…What?” which will feature random vehicles that I find for sale while surfing varying websites like cars.com, autotrader.com, Craiglist, etc. Our first guest star on this brand new series? The Isuzu VehiCROSS Ironman Edition.
Yes, you read that right, Ironman, the sports wear company, teamed up with Isuzu to create a version of the VehiCROSS two-door SUV. The VehiCROSS powertrain was untouched for the Ironman Edition, meaning that buyers in the US could still enjoy the 3.5L DOHC V6, making 215 horsepower and 230 lb-ft. This same engine can be found in the Axiom, which I wrote a “Where Are They Now?” article on a few months back.
This is just another interesting marketing ploy made by Isuzu in an attempt to hang on to whatever sales that they could. Unfortunately, slapping a giant brand decal on a two-door SUV that was stickering for nearly $30,000 was not the best move. The VehiCROSS was discontinued in 2001, with roughly 1,000 of these Victory White Ironman Editions being produced. Most owners have removed the decals from the exterior of the car, but seeing as how the Ironman logo was also stitched into the black and red leather front bucket seats, which were made by Recaro, I’m guessing those logos are still there.
This example of the VehiCROSS Ironman Edition has covered 109,992 miles and is currently for sale at AMG Auto Sales of Raleigh in Raleigh, North Carolina for $13,950, which is an incredible amount of money for anything this old, with that many miles on it, but let’s face it, when are you gonna see another one of these in your life?
What do you think of this interesting Isuzu? Comment Below!
