Thank you! I was happy when I learned it had no rust and was almost track-ready; those two factors made it ideal for me!

Nice car btw! I’m looking into getting one for under £1000, any common problems to avoid?

If I wanted to race my Corvette friends, I’d do it on a track (perhaps with the Z06)!

Overall, the NB Miata is quite a reliable car, but one of its major issues is rust. Miatas have a tendency to rust, which made me look for a car that had none whatsoever. I’ll admit that I don’t know every potential issue with the NB generation by heart, but one of the discussions on a Miata forum (https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=552185) does list some of the potential issues. I apologize for not going into detail in this comment, but if you’re looking into a Miata for that price, it would be good to ask the owner about what is listed on that discussion. I hope you have fun finding a Miata!

I’m planning on turning it into my track car! I’m thinking about going into autocross and doing some track days; I heard time attack was also fun!

Are NBs a good first car? Because I’ve found on that looks great with 80,000 miles and is for £3000

That mileage and price look great! The Miata is good on gas, fun to drive, and holds much potential as a track car. As a first car, it looks like a good choice, but I would check to make sure that there isn’t any rust or that there aren’t any issues. The other thing is that it may not be as safe as some other options in a crash (I would take a look at this link for some information, especially under the “safety” tab: https://www.edmunds.com/mazda/mx-5-miata/2001/). The big thing about a first car is that it should keep you safe. Ultimately, the decision on what car you get is up to you, but it’s best to look at all of the information about the car before deciding if it’s the one.
