Attention: The Car Throttle App Has Been Deactivated

It’s time to say goodbye to the Car Throttle app. As mentioned in another post, the Android and iOS apps stopped being supported some time ago - they were part of a business direction Car Throttle moved away from, and we no longer had the resources to keep them updated. Due to this, they were removed from the App and Play stores.
We kept access open to the few remaining loyal app users as long as we could, but with an update due to maintain compliance with Facebook’s log-in feature, our hand was forced and we took the decision to deactivate. As of 8am BST on 29 June 2020, you’ll be presented with a maintenance message when trying to load up the app and won’t be able to progress further. Thankfully the solution is simple - head to the conventional mobile site, and you’ll have a bug-free user experience.
I know the app had a hardcore group of fans and we really appreciate your devotion to the app, but it was becoming increasingly buggy and wasn’t compatible with a lot of the embedded features we now use.
We encourage you to ‘Add to Homescreen’ to continue having the CT experience from a single tap.

CarThrottle was designed poorly and doomed to fail. A ticking time bomb. First, the overall design and user interface would be terrible by 2006 standards. Even when the developer team was fixing the issues, there were so many glitches and errors. A friend of mine was banned permanently but the moderators did not remove access to his profile. He could still log in, just couldn’t comment and post. He was able to get his exact, original account back just by resetting the password, and he was then able to comment and post as usual.
DriveTribe is 20 times better, but is still not great. There is a lot less toxicity and cringe and stupid sh*t on DT, but the website has plenty of issues. That being said it is a much better alternative to CT. Whether DT can make money in the long run is anyone’s guess. Car people and social networking sites are like oil and water, it just does not work in the long run. There were and still are so many trolls, idiots, kids, weirdos, psychopaths and just plain stupid people on here. The moderators had to ban so many trolls and deal with so much childish drama that they hated what they did. And half the moderators were rude, stuck up and idiotic.
There were 3 sides to CarThrottle: The genuine, mature adults who genuinely love cars, there were the immature, stupid, obnoxious kids who wanted to make stupid memes and post their dad’s car in their garage, and then there were trolls. The genuine adults left this pile of sh*t for DriveTribe, the immature kids got their phone taken away by their mom and the trolls remain both on here and on DT. Although because of the state of CT, trolls have started taking over again and are spamming left and right.
So sad.
