The Story of Oltcit - The first low-cost Romanian car.

Hello guys, in this post i am going to talk about the short history of Oltcit.
Oltcit S.A. Craiova (1976 - 1994) was a Romanian car manufacturer.
Oltcit Craiova emerged after a partnership between the communist authorities and the French automaker Citroën. Thus, a year later (1977) in Craiova begins construction of a modern factory for the construction of a small car.

in the factory four versions were produced:

Oltcit Club

equipped with a 1129 cm cubic engine and a 4-speed box

Special

equipped with 652 cm³ Visa and LMA engine

Axel 12 TRS

in-built with a 1200 cc engine, but was replaced by a 1299 cc engine and a 5-speed gearbox; was a car for export to France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Colombia, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Bulgaria

Club 12 CS

available since 1993, two-seater micro-truck; a 1299 cm³ engine and a 5-speed gearbox with power-boosting reports

from Oltcit to Oltena , and then bankrupcy

After 1989, the production continued under the name of Oltcit until 1994, when the name was changed to Oltena (also the logo is changed); the production of these versions continued until the contract with Daewoo was signed, when another change of the Oltena name in Rodae took place.
in November 1994, Daewoo set up a production line in Romania, becoming the country’s most important foreign investor by setting up a joint venture created by Automobile Craiova and the South Korean Daewoo Group. This factory, with a level equal to the western ones, was built to produce more than 100,000 vehicles per year.
The company slowly died of , and in 2004 was sold to a Indian car company called Tata.
