Top 5 Features of the Mustang RTR (And Lots of Reasons Why It's a Kickass Brand)

So as you may have seen, I have released another video today that I’ve shot together with Vaughn Gittin Jr. about his baby Mustang RTR. As usually, I love to provide you some more background in-depth info on the videos I post when applicable here on Car Throttle, so let’s start!

So as you may have seen, I have released another video today that I’ve shot together with Vaughn Gittin Jr. about his baby Mustang RTR. As usually, I love to provide you some more background in-depth info on the videos I post when applicable here on Car Throttle, so let’s start!

I believe Carmrade Vaughn requires no detailed introduction here, but if you happened to live under a rock, check out his latest appearance in this video.

The first time I’ve met Jr, was back in Rotterdam in 2013, when I used to run the “Russian Juke R”.

A few months later we’ve met again on Gymkhana Finals in Madrid.

This is a very funny shot: as I pose next to him, he and Nani Roma (who had beaten Ken Block that day!) are awestruck because THIS happened: (watch from 0:50)

But everyone was safe and happy at the end of the day.

Speaking of Terry, you might want to check out his incredible skills when I assisted him with a Ferrari 599 GTO and some lovely Russian ladies during his performance at Moscow City Racing back in 2014. Skip to 2:12 for the action, or watch me talking nonsense.

Anyway, enough of “family album” things. Let’s get back to the car.

Ready To Impress

Top 5 Features of the Mustang RTR (And Lots of Reasons Why It's a Kickass Brand)

The Mustang RTR. RTR stands for Ready To Rock, unlike I initially thought it would stand for Racecar Tuned in Russia. It is ready for everything that life might throw at you, from cruising, to serious motorsport battles or just to pick up chicks.

This particular model displayed is the 2.3l EcoBoobs, sorry, EcoBoost engined Mustang, so it is mostly about the looks so far, if we not count the intake-exhaust mods.

Top 5 Features of the Mustang RTR (And Lots of Reasons Why It's a Kickass Brand)

The probably most distinctive feature of the RTR are the triangular daytime running lights, that I find very appealing.

Of course there is the overall extra aggressive, yet stylish bodykit.

And obviously, let’s not forget the forged RTR-Tech wheels by HRE.

I want them!

All together it gives this very sexy image of elegance, muscular elegance I must say.

For those who stay true to the roots.

Although the 2.3 EcoBoost in a Mustang may be blasphemy, I find it strategically well-done to make Mustang more appealing in the tax-sensitive countries, where a car can suddenly become very affordable and interesting to purchase (and maintain) because of lowered tax due to smaller displacement engine. Obviously, turbo offers lots of tuning potential that may reach reliable 500’ish horses, but of course, some, or maybe even lots of people may disagree. For those, RTR offers the solutions in for of V8-oriented packages.

For starters, there is the “Spec 2” which was introduced in SEMA in 2014.

The car is pretty much similar to the EcoBoost version that was presented in Luxemburg, so we’re only talking optical upgrades here, together with added Magnaflow exhaust for a better rumble.

20×9.5-inch RTR Tech 7 wheels add the distinctive “stance” to the car and transfer stock 435hp to the road. Extra wide, extra rubber, extra fun with the line-lock feature as demonstraded by Vaughn in the video, that allows hands-free burnouts!

And if 435 stock hp is not enough, you can bolt-on the RTR supercharger to reach and surpass the 700 hp mark, but if you’re planning on doing so, I’d suggest going for the more aggressive Spec 5 looks…

Apart from the different over OEM bumpers and skirts, the most distinctive feature of the Spec 5 are the wide flare panels that add 50mm to the front front and 75mm to the rear.

For non-petrolheads there is also the option of “look, it has interesting colour wheels”-option in form of RTR by HRE Tech 7 3-piece wheels 20×10-inch in the front and 20×11-inch in the rear.

Other “look, it has interesting colour” options are possible too!

Top 5 Features of the Mustang RTR (And Lots of Reasons Why It's a Kickass Brand)

But wait, there is more!

Top 5 Features of the Mustang RTR (And Lots of Reasons Why It's a Kickass Brand)

It does not stop at the Mustangs. RTR has also created the “Ultimate Fun Haver” which is Vaughn’s vision of perfect Ford F-150. The pictures explain it to you. All I want to say, is that I want this baby to take the Nürburgring lap record for SUV’s. Sideways. Or in the air.

And then there is this, ’69 Mustang named RTR-X with 401 wheel horsepower that allows you to do this.

The RTR-X was presented in 2011, and 3 years later RTR made something everyone in the world with internet connection knows: the Hoonicorn. Make sure to check out the build album on their Facebook page!

Let’s just watch how amazing it is one more time, shall we?

But it does not stop there. Vaughn completed at Go Trans Am Racing - America’s Road Racing Series for the first time and finished fifth!

And finally and obviously, there is also his Monster Energy/Ford Racing/Nitto Tire Mustang RTR that he uses to battle world’s best drifters.

I think you wanted to see something like this.

I am proud to say that I know Vaughn personally for all of his achievements, but most importantly his creations that make every petrolhead smile and I am looking forward to see what’s he’s up to in the future. And I hold him to his word regarding giving me an RTR for “pick-up chicks”-purposes.

All of the pictures were picked from Vaughn’s and Mustang RTR Facebook pages, although their original creators are mostly Larry Chen and Dino Dalle Carbonare, therefore the credits.

Separate thanks to Alok Paleri AKA Turban Outlaw who provided me with the pictures of the EcoBoost Mustang.

Pssst! I heard he is also lurking on Car Throttle. So give that man a follow.
