Samsung SSC-1 Concept:Mysterious Korean Sportscar

Back in the 90s,KIA shocked the Koreans by buying license of the Front Wheel Drive Lotus Elan and sold it as KIA Elan. Which is basically a Lotus Elan but with KIA Badge and different tail lights and engine (The Lotus Elan uses 1.6L Isuzu engine while the KIA Elan uses 1.8L KIA developed engine)

At the same era,Samsung Motors and Samsung Comercial Vehicles was established by the Chairman of Samsung,Lee Kun-Hee. But unfortunately,Not long after Samsung motors was established,The 1997 Asian Financial Crisis hit. Hyundai Motors didn’t interested on taking over Samsung Motors and decided to take over KIA Motors. Daewoo Motors was interested to taking over Samsung Motors but eventually,Daewoo Motors got bought by General Motors. Eventually,Samsung Motors got taken over by Renault

In the middle of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis chaos,Samsung suddenly showcased the Samsung SSC-1 concept on the 1997 Seoul Motorshow

Some speculate that the SSC-1 was based from Venturi Atlantique. A French sportscar that was on sale between 1991 an 2000. If you played Gran Turismo 2,You might recognized this car

The SSC-1 is a concept car that uses Fiberglass Body Construction and it has Nissan 300ZX Headlights. It’s powered by Nissan sourced 2.5L V6 engine that produced 190 HP and placed in MR layout. The engine itself is the same engine that was used by Samsung SM5 sedan. The engine was mated with 5-Speed Manual transmission. The prototype is fully functional since it was test drived near the Samsung Motors Museum in 2001

In 2001 Busan Motorshow,The same car (Or might be the second prototype) was showcased again. This time,It was painted in silver. Similar to the ones that was test driven near the Samsung Motors Museum in 2001
