If the announcement of a new, V6 hybrid Porsche Cayenne has got you wondering what used prices are doing these days, especially for the rare manual examples, you’re both very brave and in luck, because we’ve got good news. Probably.

Our delivery to you of a large, manual Porsche SUV for silly money should have you doing one of two things; either running very quickly in the opposite direction or reaching for your wallet like a gunslinger for his six-shooter.

The original Cayenne was a bit of a villain when it came out. It was the first time Porsche had built a car that was so blatantly not a sports car. It was huge, heavy and, well, it wasn’t the prettiest thing in the world. It was, however, a stonking amount of car. A big boot, loads of passenger space and plenty of luxury was linked with big, characterful petrol engines.

It even drove better than most people wanted to admit. SUVs had universally been wayward things before, about as comfortable with cornering as the average ice cream man is with astrophysics, but thanks to massive chassis and suspension components the Cayenne actually had good control and precision to speak of.

You could get it in 3.2-litre and, later, 3.6-litre six-cylinder versions, or for a bit more fruit there was the Cayenne S’s 4.5-litre V8, with 335bhp to the initial boggo car’s 236bhp. The more powerful version is exactly what we have here. It’s an early car on a 2004 plate, with an alleged 124,000 miles on the clock and capable of 0-60mph in about 6.8 seconds. The seller, Driven Car Collection, says it’s a one-owner car from almost-new, having been a dealer demo first.

Why surely, you cry, such a magnificent beast must still be quite expensive. Not on this occasion. This 14-year-old Cayenne S, complete with manual gearbox, is offered for £5,995. It seems to be in fabulous condition with premium tyres, doesn’t have any warning lights active, has a pristine-looking black leather interior and comes with sat-nav and parking sensors front and rear. Cruise control, dual-zone climate control and electric seats are also present and correct. It’s such a lot of car for the cash that we might be sweating a bit.

Or maybe that’s just worry at the potential cost of repairs when something inevitably goes bang. The trader’s warranty lasts three months, but we’d strongly suggest taking an aftermarket warranty – after reading all the small print to see what’s actually covered on a 124,000-mile car.

Okay, so it’ll drink super unleaded like there’s no tomorrow and you might want to check whether it’s holding several gallons of water inside the bodywork, but if you want to look like an actual gang member without spending an Insta-star’s salary on your car, we think we might have found just what you need. Who’s tempted?

The only thing I don’t like is the front bumper, the Turbo front looks better and more aggresive, that and with a set of GTS wheels would be quite a looker IMO.
