Chris Harris Talks About 'His' Battered Mazda RX-7

Harris gives a walkaround of the FD RX-7 that featured in last weekend's Top Gear, and talks about the buying process

As we’ve already discussed, the most recent Top Gear episode was - for the most part - a triumph. But the real star of the show was arguably a yellow Mazda RX-7, bought by Chris Harris (well, the BBC, technically) at a Japanese car auction.

This new video from TG’s YouTube channel provides a closer look at the car, plus insight from Harris about the fascinating buying process, where “15,000 - 20,000 cars are auctioned every session.” Plus, the man talks about two JDM legends - the Honda NSX Type R and the Mitsubishi Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition.

We also get a closer look at the damage sustained during the conjoined drifting effort on Ebisu, which is…not pretty. Anyone fancying buying it from the BBC and fixing it up…?

Shame about it being damaged, I’m sure it can be repaired. But what a fantastic episode this was

Chris Harris is cool and producers should stop this type of crap that is suppressed on the hosts. Great episode but ruined because of this tied together thing

I would gladly buy this FD and fix it up if I could…but since it’s been touched by TG, it’ll probably be going for around for a small fortune. Oh, and my driveway is waaaay too steep for anything lower than a Raptor to drive up!
