Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to introduce the oldest 911 residing in the Porsche museum. Well, kind of: this one is so old, it comes from the very brief period of time during which the sports car was referred to as the ‘901’, before Peugeot kicked up a fuss about its naming convention being echoed.

901 number 57 was found along with another 911 in a barn in 2014 by a German TV crew working on an antiques show. The Porsche Museum bought both, and has spent the last three years meticulously restoring it in the most authentic way possible.

Porsche’s engineers worked hard to retain as many original parts, repairing and restoring pieces as much as they could, as opposed to using replacements.

Take a look through the restoration gallery below - I’m sure you’ll agree the results are stunning.
