Watch A Bugatti Veyron Struggle To Keep Up With The Mighty Rimac Concept One

Rimac has unshackled its hypercar-killer once again to take on internal combustion's finest
Remote video URL

We’ve seen the Rimac Conept One take on the might of the hypercar world and come out firmly on top. Smashing both the Porsche 918 Spyder and the LaFerrari in straight-line drag races, the boss of Rimac has now been given the keys to a Veyron to compare the 987bhp hypercar king to his 1088bhp electric creation. Reaching 60mph in 2.6 seconds, the Rimac should technically be neck-and-neck with the Veyron, but it seems turbo lag becomes the Bugatti’s achilles heal when compared to the instant electrical torque delivery of the Concept One.

Although we’re gutted they didn’t square-up over a quarter-mile drag race, the Bugatti has its work cut out keeping up with the Rimac on public roads in this intriguing comparison. Would you take the pinnacle of internal combustion over the potentially faster but silent Concept One? Comment with your thoughts below!

Furthermore it’s the 1001 PS Veyron, not the SS.

People this isn’t even the fastest Rimac. Concept S has even more power and less weight.

I think there was a race.. but Rimac was quite a bit faster than LaFerrari so I don’t think this should be a problem especially because both of them are awd, similar weight but Rimac has a lot more torque

I literally couldn’t care less about the smallest acceleration difference if it was accompanied by silence and no changing gears. Half the excitement comes from interacting with the car and hearing it howl. The rimac has neither and so no matter how fast it is, I will never be interested

People, I’ve said this before and I will say it again: don’t compare electric vehicles to combistion engined vehicles in a straight drag race or zero to whatever contests. TAKE THEM TO THE TRACK!! And race 50+ laps. Anyone or maybe not everyone but a lot of people can put a huge electric motor and a bunch of batteries in a four wheeled thing and beat a Ferrari… Electric motors just work that way!!! No surprises!!! Thank you

Depending on the track i think even a Ferrari can’t do 50+ laps. Probably not even a Porsche or any road car really.
