8 Things You All Secretly Do When Playing Racing Games

Recently we shared some of the things we all secretly do but never admit to when playing racing games, and you shared more hilarious suggestions!

Whether it’s by crashing or simply clipping a kerb, rolling your car isn’t all that common in racing games but when it happens, you definitely don’t want to own up to it. It happens, you’ve just got to flip the car back over and get back to racing. And keep it quiet.

Guilty. We’ve all bragged about how good we’ve been racing and our rapid progression up the order, but left out the fact that the difficulty is on one of the lowest settings. The AI are going so slowly, even a toddler could drive around them. But we still seem happy with a win, regardless.

3. Lapping the track backwards

We’ve all done this when we’ve got a bit bored of the game, or – as the commenter did – lapped the Daytona oval backwards in a Zonda R on Gran Turismo 6 to get the lap count up.

This one is SO TRUE. When a game glitches on you or does something weird, which could or could not impact your race result, it’s only fair to compensate and make up some time by doing a little corner cutting, right?

On open world games like Forza Horizon 3 and GTA V, sometimes we like to drive around like we actually live there. You know, stop at the traffic lights, find a house and park there. Well, I do anyway…

6. Damage to cosmetic

We love racing games but hate damaging our cars by mistake, especially if it’s so bad you can barely keep driving. So, naturally, setting damage to cosmetic solves that problem. But we hate to admit that’s the option we go for.

When you want to hit the brakes late for a corner but go a bit too far, there’s only one thing for it – use the cars ahead of you to slow down. This is particularly helpful if you’ve got the damage on cosmetic…

8. Do your own commentary

This one is especially relevant with F1 games, when you want to hear what your race would be like with commentary. So, you do it yourself and commentate, either out loud or in your head. We’ve all done this at some point.

Let us know if you secretly do any of these in the comments and be sure to check out the original post right here.

GTA V, bring a car to a gun fight. On team missions I use the car to mow down NPCs before I need to go in with guns. Why? Because racecar. Also, getting civilian cars and attaching sticky bombs to create a rolling bomb is also very helpful (I’d never do it with a personal vehicle, mine or someone else’s)

I enjoy seeing what crashes would be like at around 150mph especially in games where your car can be totaled
