Watch A Second-Gen Audi R8 Meet Its Doom At The Nurburgring

A weekend of touristenfahrten at the Nordschleife can't possibly pass without incident, and sure enough, a nearly new R8 was filmed having an intimate encounter with some Armco last Saturday

Skip to about 4min 45sec for the R8 carnage

If this poor R8 can be repaired economically, it’s going to need a hell of a lot of work. The front end has been completely demolished, it’s had a full complement of airbag detonations, and that front right wheel doesn’t look like it had a particularly nice time while the car was loaded onto the recovery vehicle. And to add insult to injury, that Armco looks pretty gouged too, which will result in another hefty bill. Ouch.

pretty sure the safety instruction is to stay in the car until help shows up…

That’s probably not too wise if the car stops on the track though.

Will be on ebay in a couple of days. “Just broken in, never on a race track. Minor fender bender from parking.”

To be honest I’d much rather see a supercar crash at a trackday because the owner pushed it over the limits than I see a supercar crash on a public road because the owner is an idiot
