A commenter claiming to be the passenger in the BMW at the time of the crash said that the E39 “is repairable but it is damaged too much,” which we’re taking to mean the car is a write off. To add insult to injury, the crash also left the driver with a €1300 Armco repair bill.

He should have known he was understeering massively, and should ease off the gas instead of giving more power which is exactly what happens in the video
should have stuck to understeer rather than oversteer. Do not throttle it out like that. But it does not seem to bad of a damage to be honest. Mustn`t be more than 8000€ to fix that and an E39 M5 is worth more than that. Left wing, M Bumper, M Frontmask, Bonnet and I guess some crashprotection stuff that is build to provide damage to frame. I even doubt frrame is damaged. additional small pieces will need replacement, too and they add up quite fast sadly. But I would even go so far to say, that suspension is still good after an alignment. Check is desparately in need of course. Insurance will pay damage of the 1300€ guardrail of course!
Not to be mean against this guy, but since he is clealy provoking slide with a BMW M5 on a wet track at speed… Crashing has to be expected.
