Rare Update On Schumacher’s Condition As Lawyer Confirms He Can’t Walk

We haven’t heard an update on Michael Schumacher’s condition for some time, with the family rightfully keeping details private after the F1 legend’s skiing accident in December 2013.

But a court case over false claims from a German magazine on Schumacher being able to walk has started, with his lawyer confirming that is not the case.

In December 2015 German celebrity magazine Bunte published a front page story quoting a source saying Schumacher was able to take a few steps with the help of a therapist and could raise an arm.

His manager Sabine Kehm was quick to deny the claims from the magazine and suggested the way Bunte had acted was “irresponsible”.

The Schumacher family has taken the magazine to court over the claims. The trial started in Hamburg on Monday and their lawyer Felix Damm said: “He cannot walk.”

Damm stressed it would not be correct for further details on Schumacher’s condition to be revealed in court. It appears the Schumacher family will be awarded damages, with a verdict likely to be made next month.

Schumacher won seven world titles during his time in F1, which included stints from 1994-2006 and 2010-2012. He is the series’ most successful ever driver.

I totally respect the families decision on keeping everything private. But Im so desperate to know how he is and how hes doing. From a medical point of view im super interested in what happened to him and whats the outcome of it and what is to expect for the future in case of rehabilitation.
I hope his situation is improving and hes getting better.

i get why they wanna be private, but they do have a responsibility to let the fans know how he’s doing. I’m not saying they should give a full report every time, just the little things like: “How’s his speech?” or “Can he move by himself?”. #KeepOnFightingMichael

Since I was born in ‘97, this guy was my Senna. It really hit hard when I got word of the crash and still hurts now.

Damn, I really want to hear some good news about him.
He was someone who I looked up to pretty much all my life.
Him still beeing in this bad state really is not easy to hear.
I hope that he will get better soon.
