A Town In The Netherlands Has The Geekiest Traffic Lights You'll Ever See

My town (also in the Netherlands) has sensor based traffic lights as well.
It senses if I’m in a hurry and then it stays red for ages. When it senses I have all the time in the world it will turn green immediately.

There’s also rain sensors in The Netherlands that make the green light come faster to bikers when the weather is bad :)

Only in the US can you wait at a red light for 20 minutes with no cross traffic and the instant a car comes near the light, have it turn red for them and yours green so you can go…

I’m actually from ‘s-Hertogenbosch and I have to say that I really like these lights as well. Most of the times when traffic is low (evening hours) you can just leave your cruise control on, because all the lights will turn green right in front of you.
And as a car enthousiast I love the countdown lights. Those are perfect for cars with launch control. On ‘3’ hit the throttle, on green let go of the brake. You do get a lot of ‘drag races’ in the streets though. There is actually one light which is already known for its drag races, because it has a pretty long straight after the lights (the crossing of ‘Vlijmenseweg’ and ‘Helfheuvelweg’ for those interested).

Am i the only one thinking that 321 Will come in very handy when at the traffic lights😏

I like the count down instead of yellow light

Here in Canada we seem to have something similar, but I’ve only ever noticed one set of sensors located pretty close to the actual lights. And even those are usually on is the turning lane to determine if we get an advance or not.
