Was The Second Episode Of Top Gear An Improvement Over The First?

Was it just us, or was episode two of 'new' Top Gear a massive improvement over the first? We want your view!
Was The Second Episode Of Top Gear An Improvement Over The First?

From the shouting to the long and seemingly pointless Reliant challenge, it was clear you guys found a lot to dislike about Top Gear post-revamp when watching the first episode. But you know what? I actually enjoyed the second episode.

Sure, it’s clear Evans has work to do when it comes to telling an audience about a car in an insightful way (he is new to this, so should be cut a little slack) and can still come across as irritating, but the McLaren feature was good to watch, and the SUV challenge genuinely enjoyable.

Comments in the CT live discussion seemed much more positive too, so we thought we’d put it to a vote to see exactly what you guys thought:

I think it was much better. Still didn’t like Evans that much, but liked him much more than the first week. They also need to use much more if Harris he knows more about cars than the others and should be in every episode

Some bits were better e.g. the challenges on the way through S. africa, but its still not the old top gear

In my opinion ep2 was worse than the first one. Too many people with absolutely nothing to add to the show. The star in… was absolutely horrible. And everything felt so dull and boring except the first part with Jenson Button because for the first time ever someone said some useful information about a car and it did not felt just like a * advertisement.

It was more like a travel show. There’s the new jag F pace and they talk nothing at all about the car except its engine. The special was useless as a car review. Also the 675LT it was only a tribute to the old F1 LT? I mean as the new kid how does it fair in the modern variety of supercars? It was a circus with posh cars than a proper car show.

I still hate the star in a rallycross car… The guests are unrelated, they read about each other’s latest jobs very obviously off an auto cue and the best car/first car is so so stupid

It was better in my opinion but Evans needs to practice the reviewing part and stop screaming so much

It was much better. Evans is the big issue. The interviews are a lot more boring than before sure, but I can live with that.

Kick Evans off the screen and replace with Harris. Problem solved.
