Hamilton And Rosberg Just Smashed Into Each Other At The Spanish GP

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were battling for the lead on lap one of the Spanish Grand Prix when the two collided and smashed out of the race

Via MyNameIsJonny_/Reddit

It looks like Nico Rosberg was trying to cover the inside on the run to Turn 4, as Lewis Hamilton quickly closed in. But as the triple world champion tried to move alongside, Rosberg kept on pulling to the right, with Hamilton going onto the grass. From there, he was simply a passenger, spinning and crashing into his team-mate. Not what Mercedes wants, but it mixes the race up nicely for us.

What do you make of the crash? Let us know in the comments!

Racing incident. Rosberg was right to cover his line, anyone would have done it but hamilton had such a good run either he had to let of or go right. neither had time to react imo.

Agree only i will add in teammate overtakes you dont make so much risky overtake so Hamilton is one to blame

You want exciting formula 1 back, you want duels like senna vs prost, but when a guy closes the path aggressively BUT WITHIN RULES on hamilton you go full fan boy on Lewis. No wonder f1 is half dead.

Nico was supposed to leave one car width on the inside. Hamilton was travelling much faster and had too much momentum to change his path, and Nico reacted too late. Lewis is my favourite driver and tbh I couldn’t care less because it made the start to the race much more exciting.

It’s worth pointing out that people say “there’s not enough overtaking” but there is more now than there ever was. China 2016 set the record for most overtakes in an F1 race.

Rules state, you must leave at least one car width when defending…Rosberg left the width of a his leg. Broke the rules! Probably only get reprimanded

Another one misquoting the rules. He only has to leave a car width if it’s his second defensive move on the same stretch. He went to the edge on his first defensive move and was perfectly okay to do so.

If he had to leave a car width, he would be being penalised, the fact that he isn’t kinda shows you’ve got the rules backwards. (Sorry for having a go, but you’re one of many saying the same inaccuracy.)
