Manual Shifting Is Coming To Need For Speed

A new teaser video reveals that highly requested manual shifting is coming to Need For Speed, and a PC release date announcement also looks imminent

Need For Speed has received mixed reactions ever since it catapulted onto consoles last year. There’s no denying it’s gorgeous to look at, but most gamers seem to find the odd handling and lack of manual shifting to be frustrating. Well it looks like EA is about to fix one of those issues.

On a teaser video released on its Facebook page, a short video focuses on the speedometer with a newly added gear indicator. As the car accelerates, it smashes into the limiter before upshifting, seemingly indicating that the shift was under the control of the user. The real kicker, though, is that the video’s file name is ‘PC_Reveal_Manual’ - doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put two and two together here.

The intriguing part of the file name, however, is ‘PC’. As yet, we only have a ‘Spring 2016’ release date for the PC version of Need For Speed, which was held back to make the most of the extra power available to PC gamers. The full reveal will be tomorrow (Thursday 11 February), so can we expect a PC release date bundled in with the manual announcement?

If that is the case, tomorrow is a huge day for Need For Speed fans. EA just has to hope that its core audience hasn’t already moved on.

I don’t care much about manual shifting in this game. If I want to shift by myself I’ll play Project Cars or GT6

Still not sure if it’s worth buying a PC just for gaming…The indecision is real. This makes it seem more worth it but I’m still not sure. How much does it cost to build or just buy a PC which can play NFS, Project CARS, F1 2015, GRiD Autosport etc on decent settings? I will be playing games other than racing games but racing games are some of the hardest to run because of the physics engines.

Won’t cost a fortune. If you want to play at 1080p with a steady 60fps (good framerate is very important for racing sims) then you’ll be OK with a PC that costs around $800 (incl. Windows). Racing games aren’t that hard to run. They’re more CPU intensive, but you don’t need more than a mid-range Core i5 to smoothly run them without ever reaching your CPU’s limits.

If you get a PC for gaming dont forget that you can do a lot more than just game on it, like edit videos, make 3D models, do homework/ work etc. On reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace you can find a pretty good list of builds with links to everything that you can build yourself. You could also check out reddit.com/r/buildapc for help with choosing parts.

around 500$ if you buy all new parts, around 300$ if you buy used and get better performance for the price, for the game listed an i3 4th gen,GTX 750Ti,8GB of RAM will be enough if you buy new parts, and if you buy an i3 4th gen+mobo combo+750Ti/GTX 660,8GB of RAM is still the same performance but you will save a few $$$,if you want to buy used parts for 500$ you can go for an i5 2nd/3rd/4th gen+mobo,HD 7970,8GB of RAM better performance compared to the new parts but you need an 550W PSU.If you have any questions about PC parts and all of this things feel free to ask me.

I’m pretty sure we will all have to buy it on PC :’(
For those who don’t know we are in pretty bad times for Game Piracy , EA will probably encrypt their game with Denuvo which is the thing that blocks Just Cause 3 / Rise of the Tomb Raider and other recent games … But I don’t want/can’t spend 70€ again for a game that I already finished on console :(

I’m confused, do they mean being able to use a clutch for wheels with a manual gearbox are are we talking being able to semi-auto up and down gears with buttons etc. If the latter I’m shocked surely that was already included? I’ve never played the game.
