COLT_GSR

There are 2 Mitsubishi Engines Lurking in the shadow of the great 4G63T-Series:
First, theres the 4G92MIVEC - 1597ccm of displacement, that are able to produce 176hp and 190Nm and up to 8.300rpm - completely stock.
Second, there’s the bigger brother - the 4G93T, which is capable of providing 215hp and up to 300Nm with just 1.8l.

While first one is found on FWD cars only, the later was only placed in the Lancer GSR 1.8t which is AWD.
Still, both cars weigh about 1.100kg - and the 4G93T will be marrying my 16.000km old and naturally FWD Colt/Mirage Chassis - quite heavy modded, ofc. :D

Hmm the best 4-cyl engine?
Stick with me
It has to either be the BMW f1 engine producing 1500 hp on 1500cc
OR
Ford pinto 205 block 2.0
Base for the world famous BDA, in production since the 60’s, produced until 2000, powerplant for mustangs, ford escorts, ford transits, ford Sierras most successful engine in rallying, still being used, cheap, reliable, SOHC version revved to 7.8k rpm for fun, DOHC variants are famous to run 10k rpm (Wilcox,BDA,millington) best versions of this engine being the almighty cosworth 2.0 one of the rarest engines nowadays, profit to anyone who buys one. Widely used, and if turbo removed, makes a great BDA.. This engine on the sierra and its dominance over races was the reason nissan started production of the rb26…and cosworth 2.1 BDT, OH what can I say about that engine? Rarest piece of ford history, it was the powerplant of the rs200, the reason why we don’t have group B anymore was this engine, and the car it went on.. They said it was too damn fast for rally racing, and they shut group B off..
Many engines have nice specs
Few engines have great history
Even fewer engines are the epitome of an era and proudly still being used by sports fans EVERYWHERE!

Respect your elders!

To me personally it is either the F20c or the 1.9 JTD from a 2004 Fiat Stilo. We have one(Stilo), 206k Km runs perfectly, No issues with it what so ever.

The 1.4 TB multiair in Mito QV/Fiat 500 Abarth is pretty good :) Has a lot of torque at every RPM, sounds great and the multiair technology is very interesting. And most important: It is not that expensive
