Watch This Novice Driver Handle A Spin Like A Pro

When this novice driver spins his MX-5 in front of a group of fast approaching cars it doesn't look like things are going to end well. Luckily after a graceful pirouette he slams the car back into gear and gets on with the rest of his lap. Like a boss

Seemed like maybe the passenger was an instructor, If so I am sure he has been in the passenger seat of many spinouts, nevertheless great job by him remaining calm the whole time.

The passenger’s clap is the appropriate reaction here.

Hahah this reminds me of my karting days…

It was the start, we were doing reverse layout of the track, and I wasn’t quite used to it yet. Anyways, the first corner was a chicane, a left-right. Rolling start, because it was KT100 class, and I was on the inside for the left, outside for the right. I got a pretty good start, was right up there with 1st, (I had started about 5th) and was a way along side him. We came out of the left and went into the right, I was still with the leader. He didn’t touch me, but ran me wide over the rumble strips, and I ran off them onto the grass.

Well, that was it. The back end snapped, I did a silent slide in which the engine had stalled, everybody shot past me. My race appeared to be over, to me, my fellow competitors, and the spectators.

With some instinctual wheelwork from me, (I don’t even remember what I did) the kart had enough momentum in it’s slide to do a full 360, but I was pointing the right way with a dead engine. The answer was simply boot it. The kart jerked, spluttered, and finally kicked into life, at which point the rest of the field had already arrived at the next corner, down a long straight. It’s safe to say I didn’t win that race, but I did get save of the month!
