That just proves how stupid they are and why they don’t make any money anymore.

In Greece, taxi drivers are the worst and most hated professional field. I know some taxi drivers that are really good but the majority of them are quite bad people, bad drivers and bad professionals.

They will try to steal you with any way you may imagine. From hacking the taxi meters to charge more money per km, to going around longer routes if they understand that you do not know the area, to even closing the taxi meter when someone is just not paying attention and then asking for more money than what the meter would normally charge.

They drive really bad and I can say they are the most dangerous drivers on the road. They drive in way that they think that they own the road, it doesn’t matter if they have a stop, they will pass it and scream at you for not giving them priority.

Unfortunately there is a law in the country that states that for someone to be able to transfer with his car someone for money, needs to have a professional driving licence and a special taxi licence. So if you take your car to use it with uber then you are illegal. Uber is trying to recruit real taxi drivers to use their app.

Last year, when Uber tried to start in Greece, the cab drivers started protesting and blocking the roads.

They SPILLED CAR OIL on the roads so that cars would slip and crash just to protest…There were motorcyclists who crashed and were injured by this.

The market changes everyday, just because we need taxi drivers today doesn’t mean we’ll need them in a year or 2 years. Just like how McDonald’s is using automated ordering systems so they don’t have to pay cashiers. If you can’t keep up with a changing market that’s your fault but don’t block someone else from doing their job.

the problem of the “new” market is that has no rules, taxi drivers at least in Portugal need to have a set of rules in place that uber drivers don’t have and most of the time those rules are expensive witch makes for higher fairs…

I was just in NYC this weekend and let me say that there are not enough taxi drivers in New York lmao. I was waiting for 15 minutes trying to hail a taxi and not one available cab drove by. Thats where Uber comes handy.

I driver Uber once in a while on the side in Jersey. There’s no real competition for cab drivers here so I dont feel so bad. But I do agree that its not fair right now. To be a cab driver you have to pay SO MUCH MONEY a year to do your job when this 18yr old kid with moms car can just drive anyone anywhere.

Same here in Malaysia, Uber is much much cheaper than a taxi, and most taxi here doesnt come with ABS nor Airbags, yet those taxi drivers claims that Uber cars are unsafe

I’m sorry, but the things these people are doing are completely unacceptable. I don’t care how mad you are, blocking an ambulance is the wrong way to go about doing things, especially because it does nothing but put you in a very bad place in regards to your standing with the general public. As for the guy in the first video, that’s a very good way to get yourself shot or run over. In this day and age, you never know what someone is capable of. You never know who has a gun or a knife, or what that person is going to do when you’re acting aggressive and threatening them and you have them backed into a corner. I’m more than willing to accept the hate on this one, but if this is the way all of the cabbies are going to act, then I won’t feel sorry for them whatsoever when they all end up losing their jobs or their lives pulling stupid stunts like this.
