Here's The G20 BMW 3-Series Rendered As An M3, Touring And GT
When a major new car is released these days, it means two things will almost certainly happen: there’ll be leaks before the reveal, and renders of derivatives littering the Internet after.
That’s exactly how it’s played out for the new ‘G20’ BMW 3-series, which was unintentionally previewed via a bunch of leaked configurator images emerging before the big day, and now, we have the anticipated renders to enjoy.
This particular set comes from X-Tomi Design, showing us two cars that’ll almost certainly be happening, and one that probably won’t ever exist outside of photoshop.
First up, we have this M3 render. Looks suitably aggressive, doesn’t it? The G20 has been digitally enhanced with bigger wheels and brakes, an angrier front bumper and ‘gills’ in the front wings. The real version is expected to use a development of the F80’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six, with a power output far beyond the 444bhp produced by the Competition version.
Next, we have a 3-series Touring. BMW will still be making one, even though the crossover boom has - sadly - shrunk the market for such vehicles considerably.
Finally, we have the niche option: the G20 3-series Gran Turismo. Such a car is unlikely to happen, with BMW recently saying that the market has shifted since the release of the original 3er GT. Much of the target audience is being tempted away by the likes of the X1, X2, and X3 SUVs, so the current ‘F34’ version is likely to remain the only generation of the jacked-up fastback.
The saloon, meanwhile, will be on sale from 9 March 2019.
