Skoda’s New Electric SUV Previewed In Teaser

The short video doesn’t give much away, but likely previews a bigger sibling to the Enyaq

Skoda loves a good tease. We got all sorts of close-ups, shadowy videos and design sketches in the run-up to the new Octavia, and that was just for a mid-life facelift.

Now, the Czech brand is at it again with a teaser of an all-new model, set to be revealed in full on 15 March. It’s posted a short video to its global social channels featuring a darkened front-end view of the new car, accompanied by the caption ‘Our future looks electric.’

There are a couple of things to be gleaned from this short clip. Obviously, it’s an electric car of some sort, unless Skoda is trolling us in the most ridiculous way possible – but that seems unlikely.

The silhouette is pretty clearly of a crossover SUV of some kind, what with the high ride height and roof rails. It has a full-width LED light bar running across the front just below the bonnet’s leading edge, with the Skoda text itself also lighting up. Fancy. This isn’t a design feature that’s been on a Skoda production car before, but we did see something very similar on the Vision 7S concept from 2022, which previewed a bigger, seven-seater cousin to the electric Enyaq crossover.

It’s a fairly safe bet that we’re looking at the production form of that, then. Expect it to be based on Volkswagen’s scalable MEB electric platform, and to have a name that ends in the letter ‘Q’ for some reason.

When it debuted the Vision 7S, Skoda emphasised the rationality of its interior, with big physical controls for the heating and air-con. We can only hope they make the production version – it seems odd to be praising a manufacturer for such a simple thing but that’s the level of interior design silliness we’ve reached. It should keep Euro NCAP happy if nothing else. We’ll find out for sure next week.
