The Range Rover has long been a common sight around the wealthier rural bits of the UK, and Land Rover has clearly seen fit to mark this with a new special edition: the Range Rover SV Burford Edition.

As the name suggests, the Burford Edition is ‘inspired by the Cotswolds’. In case our international readers don’t know, that’s a large swathe of very pretty, hilly countryside in the West Midlands and South West England. It’s long been a favourite getaway spot of wealthy Londoners, to whom it offers a slice of bucolic rural living without having to get any more than about 50 miles from the M25. Also, Jeremy Clarkson lives there.

Burford is one of the most well-known, prettiest towns in the region. When we heard it would be lending its name to a special edition Range Rover, we sort of assumed it’d be available exclusively in a slightly mottled sandstone colour with sage green doors and some carefully arranged ivy dangling from the rear spoiler, and that the interior would already smell of three wet Labradors.

Turns out, though, that it just throws some extra kit at the current range-topping Range Rover SV. Based exclusively on the Long Wheelbase P615 model, it gets that car’s 4.4-litre, 607bhp twin-turbocharged BMW V8. The body is finished in satin Aether Grey and, rather than leather, which is an entirely un-Burford material, the interior is upholstered in “advanced woven textiles.” Topping it all off is a set of scatter cushions, which will undoubtedly fit in with the colour palette of your rural second (or third) home if you decide you don’t want them in the car.

Just 10 Burford Editions will be sold, all in the UK, and while Land Rover only lists it as POA, some dealer sites are hinting at it starting at a staggering £275,000. There probably won’t be any issues shifting them, though.

Ahead of the Burford Edition going on sale, prospective buyers will be able to look around it at a special event at – where else? – Daylesford Organic. Once it’s on sale, expect to find at least one traversing junction 8 of the M40 at any given moment.
