This Hayabusa-Engined Smart Is The Ultimate Inner-City Drift Weapon

Smart cars aren't the most entertaining of vehicles, so why not shove a superbike engine in for some spice?

Smart cars are not typical Car Throttle fodder. They're small, lack power and hardly get the excitement juices flowing. There was a brief blip of curiosity with the Smart Roadster, which actually drove pretty well but looked questionable.

Turns out however, there's a thriving modified Smart scene. But these aren't your standard bolt-on upgrades from Halfords. This scene involves plonking a superbike engine into your city runaround...

For a pretty penny, you too can have the superbike-Smart you never knew you wanted. Companies like " target="_blank">Smartzuki will replace your puny motor with a 185bhp+ Hayabusa engine. That's what the guys in the video below have done, and they're happy to hoon.

High sides and a short wheelbase are a recipe for track day disaster, but these enthusiastic Austrians eagerly rip their tyres to shreds with burnouts and doughnuts galore. One thing's for sure, no other Smart (apart from those with similar Hyabusas) sound as epic as this one.
