2001 Mk4 Golf 2.NotSoSlow 1961 Ford Falcon #GermanCarClub I'm too busy flying to post.
11th February 2016
Needing to get my transmission refurbished (at least a 2nd gear synchro grind), possibly more once opened up. Bought a stage 1 clutch kit from ECS tuning and new engine/transmission mounts so i stop breaking downpipes, and get some more power to the wheels. While the transmission is dropped. I can replace clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate to save time in the future.
Within the last 3 weeks, my second gear (synchro?) has started grinding every time I shift. It doesn’t do it when cold, only once warmed up. I changed the gear oil, and did a shifter alignment, but no change. Has anybody had this issue? I don’t know if thr synchro is too far gone, or if it could be a clutch issue, or if it could even be worn motor/transmission mount.
Ordered a NRG short hub (srk-180h), NRG quick release 2.5 all black (Srk-250bk), and a Momo competition steering wheel (COM35Bk0b).
I bought through Andy’s autosport for the hub and wheel, and the quick release from NRG through Amazon.
However Momo is currently backed up on their production, so the wheel won’t ship out for 1 to 2 weeks from today. Luckily I will be on my Washington D.C, Philidelphia, New York, Boston trip the week it ships, so it should be at home when I get back. Everything else should be here by the 23rd.
I was driving around today and set the car alarm off on somebody’s honda civic. Oops.
This evening, as i went to drive home, my car (2001 golf gl 2.0) would not stay running. I drove it several times today with no issues whatsoever, until now.
I could start my car, and it would die within a second. The rpms would go up to about 400 before dropping and stopping. I checked vacuum lines (the ones by the firewall), those were fine. I have plenty of fuel, oil and coolant are where they should be. Any ideas? I had to leave my car, and get a ride home, so I’ll be trailering it home tomorrow afternoon.
