So at what milage do miata motors start to burn oil?
Chip is fine but is eating oil and not dripping it. Not too concerned because a built motor is soon on the horizion. It would be good to know just as a benchmark for the original motor.
Driving north for self discovery purposes, does anyone want pictures of the entire west coastline of the U.S. over the next few weeks? Chip the abused miata will of course be in all of my posts, but I will be putting a decent amount of hardship on the car as it will be loaded very heavily as well as driven in the usual “Flat Out” style to keep up with American highway traffic, as well as pic up a few decent bits and pieces along the way, so I figure its something to capture for other MX5 enthusiasts/prospective owners to enjoy. I dont know, is it something anyone would enjoy or are we all convinced that Chip’s adventure can’t entertain the likes of CT?

So I have been spending all day trying to find a good oem hardtop but the more I read the less confident I become. Coupled with the fact that finding a mazda brand one from the dealer is an unlikely miracle, I’m getting mad at the only likely prospect is to waist money on another poorly designed soft top. Anyone have a source for oem spec hardtops that are actually complete upon delivery?
Whats the consensus on hardtops, 65 mph shimmey and someone slashed the soft top so yeah fml….
I hope you read the title, it doesn’t mean that I cant learn. I want to get an ecu for my 91 mostly stock miata and I would like some suggestions other than megasquirt, mainly because i want to learn about tuning and likely failures while I’m young and have time+energy to deal with it. I tend to be wordy but am currently lazy so please fire away.
So the day has come for a new ecu, I would like to know about Megasquirt and all of the pros/cons considerations and un-foreseen expensenses hassles and general must have/do first type stuff. It may be a dumb question but I know if your budget is $800 and your expected work time is 2 hours, you better have 5 hours and $1200. Any exprience tips or know how is appreciated by this spindly american autotard. Have a great and productive day CTzens.
So as well as replacing the whole spark and air intake system, replacing a poorly aligned clutch i checked all vacuum systems. Just today my fuel check valve thing that releases pressure/gas vapor from the tank arrived and was promptly put on. My stalling problem seems to have stopped however, when I stopped to get gas I went to start and alas crank as she might start she didn’t. My first thought was it had to be something fuel related, so I removed the fuel pump relay and unplugged the yellow plug under the steering column, and low and behold she started and ran obviously only for moments., I let her sputter to death before I plugged anything back in, then started up and ran fine for the 60 mile trip home. Anyone know what parts to hurl at the old girl next? 91 1.6. Almost all stock or oem parts until she’s reliable.
